kittens!

"oh my goodness, words, and sakes!" as hazel would say. we met our future kitten today. it's funny how it happened. i ran into a very sweet, very eccentric neighbor of mine the other day. she was pushing her cat down the street in a stroller. i told her that we were hoping to get a kitten soon. she called us yesterday to say that a friend of hers had a cat that just had babies and we could go meet them. they are just about 6 weeks old and not ready to leave their mom yet.

just look at those eyes!

here's mama, not too pleased about us

hazel tried to sneak this one out the door...

june, trying to figure out how she can get this one home without anybody noticing.

so tiny!

the man who had them was named knucklehead (i swear!) and the kitties are in his motorcycle repair shop.

he asked us which one we wanted, said he would hold him/her for us. really? how could we choose? (the two in this photo were my favorite. he thought the one in the back was a girl and the one in the front was a boy.) i wish i could take jasper there and let her choose. i told him we were not especially particular, but would prefer a girl. we are going to go back in a week and play with them some more and he said we could take one home the following week!

that last photo, the one in the front is a female. Come on, ask how I know (and I live no where near you.) lol Love your jewelry btw !

okay, how the heck do you know that? i am very curious! is it something like the fact that orange cats are most usually male? because that kitty was soooo sweet and also looks a lot like jasper (the cat we already have) and i would love to bring her home if she is in fact female.

she is a torti or a money cat, tortoiseshell but in a dilute color (more of a gray and light orange) It's a sex linked color and they only come in female. Usually they are more black and bright orange but she is a dilute which means it came out more like a blue color. Calicos look like that too but the background color would be white instead of black. My Truffles is a calico- my favorite color in cats. Sometimes-very rarely- you get a male but sterile ( I know TMI lol) She definitely is a female, I would stake my old cat breeding on it :-)

yes, yes, yes! i simply can't wait. this kitty is supposed to be a "barn cat" and a "companion for jasper", and another "studio mews", but really, she's gonna be my baby. i just know it. i am working on convincing glenn to let her live in my office inside, just 'til she's a bit older... which means jasper will have to move inside too...
